After more than a week on training, I learned the following common AS/400 commands:
STRSEU, EDTLIBL, WRKLIBPDM, WRKOBJPDM, WRKMBRPDM, WRKSPLF, STRQRY, RUNQRY, CRTPF, CRTLF, STRDFU, WRKSBMJOB, DSPFFD.
Marami pang iba pero yan pa lang ang naaalala ko. Yan kasi ang malimit kong gamitin ngayon. STR means start. EDT means edit. WRK means work. CRT means create. DSP means display. LIB means library. LIBL means library list. PDM means Programming Development Manager. SEU means Source Entry Utility. QRY obviously means query. FFD means File Field Description. PF means physical file. LF means logical file. So, bale, pinaghahalo-halo lang yang mga acronym na yan to make the commands. like STRSEU means Start Source Entry Utility. Madali lang di ba? Hehehe.
Here’s my own AS/400 command for blogging. STRBLG, STRCMT, REPCMT, STRSPMOTRBLG. Start Blogging, Start Commenting, Reply to Comments, and Start Spamming Other Blogs! Hehehehe!
Yun lang!

I’ve worked on many platforms already, mainframes, mini-computers, client/server environments, and multi-tier web-based environments (currently w/ a PeopleSoft hosting company)… & I can say out quite easily that the AS/400, in terms of efficiency, availability, and ease of development and maintenance (well not quite w/ performance), is the best platform there is! You cannot find any other IT environment that can be managed by two operators, a single developer, and 1 manager-system administrator, and run an ERP or banking system (I was w/ the first team of MiSys in the Philippines) serving hundreds or even thousands of users. I hope you have gone far in your AS/400 development, & will eventually learn to appreciate the platform…
