Comparing PinoyTopBlogs And Ratified

After 4 days of installing the tracking script of PinoyTopBlogs and asking Yuga to activate it, this blog is now on top 91! It was on top 95 yesterday, and it is still slowly climbing up the top. Yey!

I still prefer ranking high on PinoyTopBlogs than Ratified. Why? Ratified is easy to cheat and manipulate. All you need is tons of backlinks and your Technorati authority will climb up high, increasing your rank in Ratified. But does having many backlinks constitute a successful blog? For me, it only says one thing, you are a successful link builder. 🙂

But being on PinoyTopBlogs is a different story. You need traffic. You need unique hits everyday. It’s not that easy to manipulate. You can increase your pageviews by visiting your blog several times, but it will just count as one unique hit. If you hit the top 50 of PinoyTopBlogs, it means that your blog is popular and is widely read.

Does having high traffic constitute a successful blog? I think, that’s the goal of every blogger whose intention is to make money online. Because without traffic, no one will buy your affiliate ads, no one will click your pay-per-click ads. I envy those blogs on top 10 of PinoyTopBlogs, because I know they are making much more money online.

Now, can someone give me some drive-more-traffic-to-your-blog techniques? I still suck in driving tons of traffic to my blog. I want to be on top 10 on PinoyTopBlogs before this year ends.

  1. Marhgil, you got it all mixed up. Traffic is always our goal, of course, if we want to be successful. But how do we get traffic? Search engines. Advertising. And don’t forget: links. There are many ways to get links, some do it the right way, some cheat. The cheaters are the desperate ones, but do they get quality traffic out of it? I don’t think so. But they do get traffic nonetheless. And so we go back to the subject of cheating. Traffic can be easily manipulated as much as linking. Actually, traffic can be bought for a few dollars. And if you’re smart enough, you don’t have to pay anything. Now, if you ask me if I’d rather rank higher on PTB or Ratified, I’d say both, because it’s just cool to be listed there. Even though my blog is only ranked #39 and #38 respectively, I still consider my blog a success because of how I monetize it which, incidentally, requires a lot of sites linking to me, NOT great traffic per se.

  2. Hi Andrew! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Yes, it’s better if we can rank higher on both, but if I have to choose only one, I choose PTB 😀 Having tons of links with less traffic is like Pichay, lots of commercial but with less votes 😀

  3. I’m curious. Aren’t backlinks the means by which Google measures page popularity? Just wanted to point that out. I’m not partial to either backlinks or traffic as people having been gaming the system ever since. 🙂

  4. hey thanks sa pagdaan, nice blog.

  5. Ok, I admit it’s difficult to change people’s minds about some things, but let me underscore the fact that traffic comes from links. You can’t have decent traffic without links. SEO lives and breathes on links. Yun lang yun. And this post is pretty pointless because your mindset is only focused on traffic and not where it came from. Sure you’re getting some hefty traffic right now from your Gretchen post, but let’s be serious, will that help you carve your niche? Will that generate any sales? No. I don’t think so.

  6. @andrew.. Yes you are right. You can’t have decent traffic without links. SEO lives and breathes on links. I agree with you. My point is not all blogs with high number of links get the traffic that they want. You can have tons of links, but still have less traffic, ranking you high on Ratified, but not on PinoyTopBlogs. Well, it is good if you can balance those two like what you did.

  7. Ack! Sorry for coming off as rude. You can delete my previous comment if you want. Minus a few words, I still stand by what I said.
