The e-mail subscribers are bugging me. My friends are asking me. Why are you not updating your text messages blog? My answer, laziness hit me. I’m sorry but that’s the truth.
Unlike this blog where I simply write anything that pops into my head for a certain topic and post as often as I want which only took 10 to 15 minutes of my time, that blog needs more time to create a single post. I have to categorize each text messages on my cellphone and encode them in a specific order. I need to do some spell checking and grammar checking. I need to check for duplicate contents. In short, it needs more time and attention. Unfortunately, I don’t have that much time and attention this month. I just got lazy.
However, despite being lazy, you’ve read my title right. I earned $241.71 from that text messages blog alone. Here’s a screenshot of my Google Adsense earning for the period Oct 30 - Nov 29 for that blog.

I did not post anything between those dates. But still, I earned that amount. How come? Well, that’s the beauty of a search-engine optimized blog. Whether you update or not, as long as you’re on the first page of search engines for your keyword, visitors will keep coming. Here’s an overview of the visitors for that blog on that period.

As you can see, the search engines sent me 21,146 visitors! Even if I did not update, search engines kept on referring visitors to my blog 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Where are these visitors coming from? What are they searching? Of course, I optimized that blog for competitive keywords, searched by many people all year round. It’s currently number 1 on Google Philippines for text messages against 143,000,000 web pages. Here’s a screenshot:

How long does it take for me to beat others and place my blog on top 1 for that keyword? More than a year. Well, is it worth it? Yeah. After a year of hard work, I don’t even have to update that blog this month and Google will still pay me $241.71 for that period. I bet I don’t even have to update it again and I will still earn next month. Can you ask your boss to do that to you? Sir, after 1 year of hard work, can I stop working now and still get my salary? My advise for bloggers wanting to earn money from Google Adsense: Learn SEO. Apply SEO to you blog posts. When it hits the first page, earn money for being lazy.
