A lot of people are now using their mobile devices for surfing the internet. And they increase everyday.

Research by iCrossing shows that people are also using their mobile devices for searching information. And they trust Google mobile as well, followed by Yahoo mobile.

So, I smell something we can make money of. Let’s dominate the mobile search result while there’s not that much competition yet. :) Early bird catches the early worms.

And what do people search on their mobile devices? Weather. Local News. Maps. Directions. Traffic Reports. Sports.

So, what to do? Make your blog mobile-friendly. Sign-up with Admob for advertising. Submit your blog to Yahoo Mobile. Blog about those topics. Optimize. You don’t need to submit to Google mobile, they automatically crawl your blog if it becomes mobile-ready. ;)

I’m currently experimenting on this thing. So far, this blog is getting at least 20 impressions everyday from mobile devices. Not bad :)

How do we do SEO for mobile? I’m still researching and experimenting. Will blog about it in the future. Stay tuned. :) I already made a separate category on this blog for this topic.

True. Google Mobile Bot crawls all sites and if it’s mobile friendly, it gets included in the mobile index. However, creating a mobile sitemap may truly increase the number of pages indexed.

Nice :) I get about 15000 visits per day on my mobile site, wait a few more months, and if you’re good, you can reach that amount too ;-)

@Nadir… thanks. hopefully, I could get the same number of visitors as you have. I’m really new on this mobile thing and I want to be in it as soon as possible. :)

Whilst I think it makes sense to Google to try this market, I’d be very surprised if mobile ads take on. The simple reason is the screen size of mobile devices is just too small. I have an XDA IIi which has a relatively large screen size and full IE browser, which I got specifically for internet access. But even this isn’t big enough for web browsing *and* viewing ads.

Another small point is if you’re talking about AdSense type stuff, I turn off images anyway to save time and bandwidth charges, so these would by necessity need to be text only ads.

@Colin McNulty… thanks for your input. Regarding the ads, the Admob ads are text ads only. Yeah, I think Adsense type ads will not make it on the mobile market, but text ads will do.
