Time for another Filipino word. And this time, I’ll talk about umaga.

Umaga is quite popular today, with high search volume because it happens to be a name of one of the WWE wrestlers whose real name is Eddie Fatu.

But I’m not going to talk about this wrestler. I’ll talk about umaga, the Filipino word. :)

Umaga is a Filipino word which means morning. As in the time of the day where the sun started rising from the east. I think, it came from the root word “aga” which means early.

The most common usage of the word umaga is when greeting someone “Good morning.” You say it with feelings, “Magandang umaga!” And make sure it’s morning when you say it. :)

What if one morning, you met Umaga the wrestler in the Philippines? What will you say? Magandang umaga, Umaga!
