My Multi-Level Marketing Experience

If you are going to recruit me to another multi-level marketing company, I’ll politely say no. It’s not my line of work. Let me share you my experience with MLM companies 9 years ago. These are all based on my first-hand experience.

First, they will invite you to their orientation or seminar. But most of them will not tell you about it. That you’ll attend a seminar. Some will just say you’ll go to a friend’s party. Or whatever. They will not tell you what it’s all about until you are already in the place. Then, what? Then, they will start the orientation.

MLM PlanetsThe orientation will revolve on how you suck at life and how they rock! On how they already have their house and lot and cars at such a young age while you are there, looking at them, salivating on what they have achieved on their awesome company. They will first ask for your dreams. Your dream car. Your dream house. And later tell you in your face that you’ll not achieve those dreams in your current situation as an employee. They will attack your routine, on how you spend much of your time eight hours a day, 5 days a week inside the cubicle wasting your time as your dreams slowly go away. And then, they will present you a solution! That by joining their awesome company, you’ll achieve your dreams faster than you wake up! They will show you the achievements made by some of their members, usually with their pictures beside their dream house and a car, with photocopy of their paycheck and all. They will tell you that if you really wanted to achieve your dreams, you should join them! Yeah, they will promise you your dreams but you must buy their products first to become one of them. And when you become one of them, you’ll realize that it does not look as easy as it seems to be. And since you already made an “investment”, you’ll do your best to succeed. You’ll invite your friends, classmates, and any one you know to the orientation/seminar. Hoping for them to believe the seminar and “invest” their money just like you, so that you can get your money back and earn more if your downline grows.

I guess I’m not good at convincing people. I guess I’m not lucky enough to get the downlines that will give me more downlines and give me more money. Well, I got some downlines and got my money back, but their convincing power is not as good as mine. And I already run out of kakilala :( So, the downlines did not grow. The money did not come. And the dreams? Well, I’m still pursuing my dreams. I still believe that I can achieve them. Using other ways. Without convincing other people to join a company by buying their overpriced products. Without lying with people and forcing them to attend a free seminar that will torture them mentally and emotionally to buy their products.

Yeah. You’ll probably not achieve your dreams as a simple eight to five employee earning a regular salary. But MLM is NOT the ONLY way to achieve your dreams as most of them tell you in your subconscious mind when you attend their orientation. There are many other ways. Find them.

My advice? When someone invited or “kidnapped” you for an MLM orientation, thank him and listen to the orientation. Then, investigate. Study. Learn the ins and outs. Take your time and don’t rush yourself. Think about it for a week or 2. Are you really ready to do what they are doing? If you really think you can succeed on it and you have the skills to succeed on this kind of business, then go on. Anyway, experience is the best teacher. I’ve experienced it already and I learned that it’s not for me. Maybe, it’s for you.

Yeah, *some* people succeed on it. *Some* really made it big on the MLM. According to some unconfirmed statistics, the success rate of a distributor joining an MLM company is only 3%. (Google it!) Maybe, you’re part of that lucky 3% who could make it big. Is 3% success rate on MLM attractive to you? I will not ride an airplane if the pilot says they only have 3% success rate of reaching the destination, will you? Sadly, I did before. :(
