Bullet-Proof Dress

Have you heard of a bullet-proof dress? That’s what I call those dresses for sale in the malls that are insanely overpriced. Like when my wife was shopping with me and when she looked at the price of a dress she liked, I reacted, “Wow, mahal nang presyo! Siguro, bullet-proof na yan? Bakit ang mahal?”

Well, maybe, I’m just used to buying gadgets. That when it’s expensive, it has an extra feature in it. Like additional RAM, or a better CPU when buying a laptop. So, why would you pay triple the price of a dress when the only difference I could see is the brand name? It can’t even protect you from bullets?

Maybe, it’s just me being stingy or something?

Mercury Drug’s Suki Card

This happened last year at a Mercury Drug store near Makati Medical Center. The doctor prescribed me lots of medicines for the hypertension I was having that time. I was not feeling well and even worried about how much I needed to pay for the medicine. Then, this happened:

Mercury Drug staff (after reading the prescription) : Sir, may suki card kayo. (Sir, do you have a frequent customer card?)
Me: Huh? Sa lahat ng tindahan, ayokong maging suki nyo! (Huh? Of all the stores, I don’t want to be your frequent customer!)

Yeah. I just blurted that out without thinking. And my wife (girlfriend then) just laughed at me. The Mercury Drug staff just smiled.

But really, why would I want to be a suki (frequent customer) of a drug store? Who wants to be sick all the time, right?

Anyway, since I’m diabetic now and I have no choice but to buy medicines every once in a while, I already have a Mercury Drug Suki Card. But really, if I have a choice, I still don’t want to be their suki.

The Funny Bayan DSL Lola Techie Commercial

I just saw it on television. It’s funny. Lola is using Facebook and talks to her grandson. Since the commercial shows a URL, lolatechie.com, I checked it out and I was redirected to a Bayantel page giving online application to their Bayan DSL. Now, that’s marketing – funny commercial + easy to remember URL + redirect to a sales page = money.

Well, I’m not interested with their DSL, rather with lola’s video coz I wanted to post it on this blog. Found a link to her Youtube’s page. Now, here’s the funny commercial.
