Have you seen this new flash game by Exploding Rabbit? Super Mario Bros. Crossover is a flash game where you can play the classic Super Mario Brothers game using a different character. You can play as Mario, Link, Bill R, Megaman, Simon or Samus.

Watch how Jay Pavlina, the creator of this game, plays his own game.

Nintendo Wii In The House!

Yesterday, we bought a new Nintendo Wii at Greenhills Shopping Center. We initially thought of buying just the basic package worth Php 11,500, but we ended up buying a Php 15,000 package that contains additional Wii Remote and Nunchuck controller, 58 in 1 Wii accessories, 10 games and the Blue Light rechargeable battery pack.

The Nintendo Wii is modified already, ready to play those ~~pirated~~ back-up games from the DVD. It has this Waninkoko Menu Patcher already installed for it to play the back-up games.

Gaming experience? Awesome! Good thing our living room is quite spacious, playing tennis on Wii Sports for 2 players is doable. I was sweating hard after 30 minutes of game time, a nice way to burn those excess calories.

I might be blogging some review on Wii games from time to time on this blog now.

Playing Wii, burning excess calories and trying to make money online from the experience = Wiin!

R4i for Nintendo DSi

We know that R4DS doesn’t run on the new Nintendo DSi. However, a new flash cart for Nintendo DSi was born. They call it R4i, the R4 for Nintendo DSi. I’m not sure if this is manufactured by the R4DS maker since I can’t find it on their official site. However, it is already on sale on different internet site.

I also found this video on Youtube showing that R4i really works on Nintendo DSi.

Can You Use The R4DS On Nintendo DSi?

I guess, that is what most of Nintendo DS Lite users with R4DS is asking. Of course, if they want to upgrade to Nintendo DSi, they wanted to know if their favorite homebrew games and applications can still be used there by using the R4.

Unfortunately, the answer is NO. You cannot use the R4DS on Nintendo DSi right now. See this Youtube video as a proof.

R4DS on Nintendo DSi Doesn’t Work

I think, after a month or two, those people behind the R4DS will find a way to integrate their cards on the Nintendo DSi. We just have to wait as they do their homework.

I guess, the M3 Simply cards and the DSTT cards will not work too.

Can I Really Learn The Chinese Language With My Chinese Coach?

At last, I can study Chinese on my Nintendo DS. I’ve been working on a company where most of our foreign correspondents are Chinese nationals, and most of the time, I feel out of place when they started discussing with each other in their native language. Maybe, with My Chinese Coach, I might be able to understand a little of what they are talking about. Hehe.

I’m currently on the first level now. Trying to familiarize myself with common phrases such as Ni Hao, and Ni Hao Ma? The application guides the user on proper pronunciation, taking advantage of the microphone where you can record your voice and compare it with their demo. Aside from tutorials, games are added to better familiarize with the words. A new level will only be unlocked once you gathered enough scores from those games. There’s also writing lessons of the Chinese characters, fully using the touch screen capability of the Nintendo DS.

Since I’m not going anywhere this Halloween, I might spend my day trying to finish all the lessons there. I hope I can really learn the Chinese language using my DS.

Nintendo DSi Price and Features

Nintendo just announced the next Nintendo DS, and it’s called Nintendo DSi! According to reports, it will be sold on November 1 at roughly $178.

New features include:

No more GBA slot, the size has been reduced by 12%.
3 Megapixel camera
Built-in memory
On-board browser

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars For Nintendo DS

It’s been a long time since I blogged about anything about Nintendo DS games. My Nintendo DS Lite is still with me, but I haven’t touched it for a week already.

Well, just a quick update on the Nintendo DS gaming world. Nintendo announced that finally, there will be a Grand Theft Auto game for the Nintendo DS. The Nintendo DS version will be called Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. The game will be launched later this year.

What’s Your Highest Whack-A-Monty Score?

When I’m bored, I usually get my Nintendo DS Lite and play a Super Mario Bros Mini Game called Whack-A-Monty. That game is so simple that even a 2 year old can play it. You’ll just whack a monty, basically tapping a bird that shows up from the holes and avoiding Luigi’s face at the same time.

The challenge only comes when you are trying to beat your own high score. I actually got hooked on this game when my girlfriend showed me that her high score on this game is 75 while mine is only on the 50s. I finally beat her high score after almost 2 hours playing it, (I got 76) but then, after 5 minute or so, she just have a new high score of 77.

My highest score now is 82. That’s quite tough to beat now, at least for me. I played last night and my high score is just 77. From time to time, I’ll still try to set a new high score.

Googling for a whack a monty high score, I found out that someone has a high score of 117! Someone, somewhere is more addicted to this game than me. But someday, I’ll beat that 117. I just need more practice. Hehe.

Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword DS

Finally, a ninja game on DS which fully took advantage of the touch screen feature of Nintendo DS. Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword is played vertically on the DS like Brain Training, where you play on the touch screen area and you see the map on the left screen. You fight an enemy by using your stylus and the character Ryu do whatever you wanted him to do.

Game Melody Oratorio: Play The Piano On Nintendo DS Lite

I just found a new Nintendo DS homebrew where you can learn to play the piano. You’ll not find it anywhere on your favorite NDS Lite store yet because this is a homebrew application made by Multiple:Option as an official entry into the Neoflash Spring Coding Competition 2008.

You’ll not be an expert pianist like this guy after playing it. It only showcases 5 tutorial for 5 popular game tunes: Super Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, Bubble Bobble and The Legend of Zelda.

The virtual piano consists only of 2 octaves and playable via the stylus. You’ll just tap the key you want to play.
