8 Things I Wouldn’t Have Experienced If My Name Is Not Marhgil

Ok. This doesn’t mean that I hate my name. It’s just that I got these extra things to do in my life because my name is Marhgil and not Michael or any other popular and easy to remember name.

  1. On Starbucks, when the cashier asked for my name, I simply say my name is Mark. I just don’t want to go through the hassle of spelling my name and teaching them to pronounce it correctly.
  2. I taught my nieces to call me Tito Aga because they can’t pronounce my name properly. 🙂
  3. I have to claim marghil.blogspot.com because some people are linking to it instead of marhgil.blogspot.com.
  4. Most people of whom I got in touch only via e-mail thought I am a woman.
  5. Most of the time, my name was misspelled on ATM cards even though I correctly filled up their application forms. Yes, I need to go through all the hassles of correcting it.
  6. Up to now, most bloggers misspelled my name when quoting me. Try googling Marghil and you’ll see who they are. 🙂
  7. My siblings can’t even spell my name correctly, I even have to correct them.
  8. I need to discuss the etymology of my name from time to time (on job interviews, meeting new friends, etc.) because people are curious about it.

And no. I am not related to Lisa Macuja! (well, this doesn’t have to do with my first name but with my family name.)

Marhgil Macuha

Marhgil Macuha is a Computer Engineering graduate of Batangas State University. He is currently a Senior Solutions Developer at a Canadian IT company.
