Blog As Often As You Can

I’ve already read numerous blog post advising bloggers to blog at regular intervals. When you have so many ideas today, write about it and put it at your drafts and schedule it to be posted at a later time. When the time comes that you run out of ideas to blog about, you’ll have some reserved to post.

Well, I beg to differ from them. My way is to blog as often as I can and when the time comes that I run out of something to blog about, then, I don’t blog. Hehehe.

Actually, this depends on what your blogging goal is. When your goal is just to please your readers, then do what they suggest. My goal is different. My goal is to have as many search engine traffic as I can and to have regular readers in the process. That’s why when an idea popped up in my head, I blog about it on that same day. Even if I already have 2 or 3 blog posts on that day, I just keep blogging. Why? Because I want Google to index my blog posts as early as possible. If I put my ideas in drafts and waited for 2 or 3 days before I post it, I’ve already lost 2 or 3 days of search engine traffic.

It could turn-off some readers. But it could also gain new readers. And when you do it everyday, blogging as often as you can and not blogging when you have nothing to blog about, then, your regular readers will eventually get used to your being unpredictable. And they will not leave you. Just look at my RSS subscribers. I blog at different intervals on different topic since I started this blog. I’m so unpredictable, you don’t know what topic will I blog about on my next blog post and when will I post it. Did my readers go away? Nope. On day 1, I have zero RSS subscriber. Now, I have 200+ subscribers. The numbers fluctuates but it still increases everyday.

So, my advice? Blog as often as you can. And don’t blog if you have nothing to blog about. Hehe.

P.S. Some people are doubting my claim that this blog is getting an average of 1000 unique visitors per day. Ok, here’s an absolute unique visitors report I’ve extracted from Google Analytics to remove your doubts. Note that it is not the number of page views yet. Of course, page views are higher than that.

  1. i would wholeheartedly agree with your strategy on blogging.

i feel that i do the same thing. i blog only when i feel i have something to talk about. i have been by so many blogs where i feel someone is bloggin, just to be bloggin’, but really have no real content. i blog at least once per day and up to four times per day, but each one of my posts is something that my readers can relate to-so i believe. i have been building a steady RSS number and my rank on technorati has been increasing very well.

i will keep applying my strategy and see where i end up when it is all said and done.

Note: I’ve deleted so many links here. I like your comment so I’m keeping it.

  2. Hahaha! Agree, sooper! I used to have so many posts on weekends pero parang hindi na nakakahabol ang iba. Let your ideas flow, don’t delay them!

  3. huwaw! very nice! 1000 unique visitors a day?!

i’ll take all your tips if i can get those stats!

  4. Because my blog is so new, I’ve been doing 2-3 articles each day, and I spread them out for every 12 hours. While my content for my blog isn’t complete, I hope to find that Scheduling Random\Unique\Funny things each day and then having Actual Written Blogged articles whenever I have time. This way I can use Stumbleupon to get as many things done and out of the way. Therefore If I really don’t have time to Blog (at length) I can take a few days off. I guess the real thing is – is that I need a userbase for any of it to matter. But that will come.

  5. This “save your blog entry” technique is not new.

I had a salesman doing something similar. He kept non-urgent orders in his drawer. When he had a bad sales day he would pick them out.

Another salesman had a sales incentive plan rewarding him until 110% of his quota. Needless to say, He never exceeded that ratio. All additional sales were registered on the following month.

So apparently this is done by bored bloggers too…

  6. Wow i’ll take note all your tips! I’m doing the same thing. Congrats brother! You’re doing very well! Keep up!

  7. I really liked your strategy. I don’t do as much blogging as I would like to. However I can understand about your wanting to see Google index your posts quickly. I feel the same too each time my posts get indexed. It’s like getting a pat from the big boss.

  8. Bow ako sayo 🙂

thanks pala dun sa kontera e-book.. heehee.. i’ll implement it soon.. di ko pa natapos basa lahat ^_^

  9. I definitely agree to this. I blog as often as I can whenever a topic hits me making sure that the entry is within my niche.

  10. My blog goal is to keep the memories or thoughts that I want in a place where I can revisit them. So far, I have achieved this goal. However, I occasionally engage in blogging for profit to buy the things that I want online. I don’t exactly intend to have as much page views or visits that you have but thanks for the tips 🙂

  11. I agree to this too. That’s why sometimes I have an overload of entries. But sometimes wala naman, heehee.

  12. Great advise.
I used it on a couple of my blogs with good success, especially when inspiration is low and regular visitors loose patience. And of course, you do not want to loose any of those!
    Thanks for the great idea.
